Dimitra Williams launched MIITRA in 2020 as a way to reignite her love for design after years of feeling uninspired as a designer for other brands. What started out as a side project, quickly grew into a thriving business that feeds her creativity and artistry.
“I launched the business with silk scarves because they were the perfect canvas to convey my aesthetic and the mission of the brand; clean, modern, minimal design paired with bold, meaningful statements meant to empower the wearer,” Williams tells BLK Oceans.
Each MIITRA scarf is made from 100% silk twill, printed in Italy, and decorated with a bold, powerful message, carefully selected to empower the wearer's spirit and foster a sense of strength, self love, and confidence.

“As a person who has struggled with depression and anxiety, I have found that speaking positivity into your life is a vital component to the healing journey,” Williams shares. “Many of the empowering messages on the scarves are African proverbs and reinterpretations of advice I have found particularly supportive and encouraging.”
As the brand moves into their second year, their best selling silk scarf is The Liberation Scarf , a declaration of pride that shares the message: Liberate your mind, free your soul, move with faith. It is their boldest design, along with their most powerful statement.
