Love is in the Air: Black-owned Bridal Fashion Brands

Written By Eliza Colón

Spring has sprung and you know what that means? Love is in the air! It is wedding season and there are so many beautiful bridal trends we are seeing in 2022! When thinking about bridal fashion, there aren’t many Black-owned brands that immediately come to mind. We’d like to change that, while also helping you look and feel your best before you jump the broom. Here are our favorite looks from Black bridal designers you need to add to your search for the perfect dress.

Valentine Avoh - Short Dresses
Since the pandemic, many couples are opting for smaller and more intimate ceremonies. A shorter, but elegant update to a traditional gown, The Etta from Valentine Avoh’s Midnight Train collection is for the modern and refined bride.

Esé Azénabor - Puff Sleeves

There is a lot of sleeve action happening in bridal fashion right now. Puffy sleeves can be a retro, yet romantic look for the big day. Esé Azénabor, a Dallas based couture brand, is known for its hand beading and embroidery.

Alonuko - Vintage Style

Alonuko is a British fashion brand for our brides with a sophisticated sense of style. We love the vintage vibes of the latest collection, which leans towards glam and timeless elegance. The silhouettes work with the female form to highlight your features, not hide them.

Divalukky - Visible Corset

Corset-exposed bridal gowns are pulling up to the scene and snatching our waists. The regal, Bridgerton-inspired look is for the unconventional bride. You’ll walk down the aisle feeling like royalty.

Odylyne the Ceremony - Ruffles

Ruffles are all the rage and come with a lot of versatility. For a bold statement, go for a full cascading skirt and for minimalists, look for more understated frills on the bodice. Odylyne the Ceremony is giving all the ethereal feels.

Pantora Bridal - High-Slits

Last but not least, let’s not forget about the ladies in your life that will take part in your special day: your bridesmaids. High slits are flattering for any size and shape. Let them show a little leg…(they might find their future husband at the reception).
