I recently traveled to Denver with my 15-month-old son in tow. After hours of waiting in lines, sitting in cramped airplane seats, and surviving a car rental experience that nearly sent us over the edge, we finally arrived at our Airbnb - exhausted, stressed, and ready for a cocktail. Waiting for me at the door was a little blessing in a cardboard box. My Lightly shipment felt like a personalized gift from a friend who just “got it”. I caught up with Dominique Olowolafe, CEO and Founder of Lightly, to hear how this mother of two has built the latest must-know brand for busy, traveling parents.
Tell us about the history of Lightly and the mission behind its success?
“Lightly's origin story actually began with my own traumatic travel experience. I ran out of diapers before we even stepped foot on the airplane. It was so embarrassing and the catalyst to me obsessing over all pain points related to family travel. I was most offended by the fact that I was flying out of LAX, the 4th busiest airport in the world, where I could purchase Hermes, Chanel, and even KY Jelly. But there were no basic hygienic essentials readily available for toddlers or infants.
The travel and hospitality industry has done a better job of accommodating pets, than small children. Lightly is dedicated to fixing this and providing a better experience for parents.”

What can people expect from Lightly? Walk us through the experience.
“We provide three standard kit options and offerings may vary slightly based on your hotel provider.
Overachiever Kit - my favorite option for 1st time parents, who find themselves fretting and overwhelmed by all the what ifs and lists of what to pack. It includes 30-36 premium diapers depending on diaper size, 1pk wipes (60ct), crib sheet, swaddle blanket, baby body wash, baby body lotion, and diaper balm. We also include a small age appropriate bonus gift and special treat for parents as well.
Weekender Kit - is a truncated version of the Overachiever. It only includes 10-12 diapers, 1 pk travel wipes (25ct), crib sheet, swaddle blanket, baby body wash, body lotion, and bonus gift for both child and parent.
Welcome Amenity Kit - I like to refer to this as our bathtime swag. It's a plush terry cloth reusable toiletry bag filled with wash gel, nurturing cream, nourishing shampoo, and playful rainbow fish washcloth.
You can find Lightly nursery kits available at select luxury hotels. We recommend requesting a kit from the hotel upon booking or when you reach out to reserve a crib or pack n play. We want parents to soak up the convenience of having premium necessities already waiting in their room upon arrival.”

“I take the cake for neurotic momma when it comes to my unwavering commitment to quality products. Sourcing clean, natural, and organic ingredients that deliver time and time again was a long journey. Providing parents with products they already love or exceed their expectations will always remain our top priority at Lightly.”
