During this computer age, Port West Stationers revive artistry and imagination by producing sustainable notebooks. They believe in pen-to-paper thinking because there is no more versatile canvas for your thoughts, sketches, and ideas than a notebook. Write about your day, compose a poem, and take your creative canvas anywhere you go.
Nigerian born co-founders Khalifa Abubakar and Shaun Ihejetoh are London based architect and designer who were in need of notebooks for their work. Unable to find what they wanted, they decided to make their own sustainable notebooks with 100% FSC recycled carbon neutral papers, rich cover colors made with cruelty-free natural paste dyes, and 100% recycled post consumer waste.

Port West’s motto, “For People and Planet,” represents the founders’ design ideals: Function, Beauty and Form, and Sustainability. They accomplish this by partnering with British binders and suppliers across the UK.
“We are driven by our shared passion for creativity and a desire to help bring about a more sustainable and inclusive future,” Abubakar and Ihejetoh tell BLK Oceans. We see creativity as a key component of resilient societies and are inspired by the sketches and writings of creative, forward-thinking individuals.”

Abubakar and Ihejetoh are not only passionate about the environment. They are equally as passionate about social equity, both locally and overseas. They initiated their first “Create for Creativity” campaign where they collaborated with four artists to deliver eight special edition cover illustrations for the newly released A5/02 NTRL notebooks. Each drawing is unique, a one-off piece, and ships with a Certificate of Authenticity, signed and dated by the artist. All proceeds from the sale of these notebooks will be matched by them and donated to the NGO (Non-Governmental Organization), “Article 25.” “Article 25” works with local practitioners across Africa and Asia in the design and delivery of schools and other essential buildings.
